SOAS University of London is a well-known public research university, which is located in London. It serves as a constituent college of the federal University of London. Established in the year 1916, it is regarded as the world’s leading institution for the study of Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Mainly, this school is divided into three faculties including Faculty of Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Faculty of Law and Social Sciences. It also houses the SOAS School of Law, which is considered among the UK’s leading law schools. The campuses featured by the university are known for facilitating a conducive learning environment. In the 2020 rankings given by The Complete University Guide, SOAS ranked at the 44th position.

The campus of SOAS is situated in the Bloomsbury area of central London. It is home to Brunei Gallery, which was built from an endowment from the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam. Also, it houses College Buildings, 21-22 Russell Square, Faber Building and the northern Block of Senate House. Its library was designed in the year 1973 by Sir Denys Lasdun and is situated in the Philips Building. The university offers about 350 bachelor’s degree combinations, 100 plus one-year postgraduate degrees and doctorate programmes in nearly every department. The institution is said to be among the UK’s best small group teachings with a student-staff ratio of 11:1. It serves as a centre for subjects that are concerned with Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Also, it trains government officials on secondment from all over the world in African, Asian and the Middle Eastern languages. It also functions as a consultant to government departments and organisations such as Deloitte and Accenture.

SOAS University of London has not only earned fame for academic excellence but also its notable alumni network. The institution has produced several government ministers, heads of states, diplomats, Supreme Court judges, central bankers, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and other distinguished personalities who are known for their contribution around the world.
