Morrisville State College is located in central New York and stands as a model of innovative applied education. The Syracuse EOC is a part of a state-wide system of 10 training education opportunity centers and two outreach and counseling centers that function as the 65th campus of SUNY. SUNY Morrisville emphasizes a hands-on approach applied education of learning by doing activities based learning labs and with living facilities. Many of these are uncommon or stand out in advanced education and permit students to participate in manners that go past the conventional classroom environment. This commitment to applied training incorporates a wide array of campus-based enterprises and establishments which are controlled by students. These tasks are campus-supported and coordinated into academic programs, with course results requiring that students become occupied with the plans, activities, and maintainability of these enterprises. Students in the degree programs of residential construction, automotive, dairy, equine, diesel technology, travel and tourism, wood items technology, restaurant management, renewable resources, aquaculture, and horticulture all acknowledge significant career-ready experiences from these enterprises. For bachelor’s programs, the applied learning proceeds with 95 percent of these graduates finishing a full-semester internship prerequisite for their capstone academic experience.
