Grand Valley State University is a public institution that was established in 1960. It uses a semester-based scholastic schedule. It is located just outside the Grand Rapids zone, Michigan’s second-biggest metropolitan locale. The Grand Valley State Lakers are members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division II. The average freshman retention rate, an indicator of student satisfaction, is 84 percent.
The university consists of eight degree-granting colleges: F.E. Seidman College of Business, College of Community and Public Services, College of Education, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing, College of Health Professions, Kirkhof College of Nursing and Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies. Grand Valley has a wide variety of scholarships accessible to new and returning students. It offers 400+ endowed and department scholarships. These grants differ and might be based on interests, academic performance, special talents, or majors. A considerable number of these grants are made available through generous donations. There is a wide variety of merit-based awards for incoming freshman and first time Grand Valley students.
