California Baptist University

California Baptist University is one of the most prestigious private, Christian universities of Liberal Arts located in Riverside, California. In 1950, it was initially established as California Baptist College. The university has accreditation and affiliation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and California Southern Baptist Convention, respectively. In September 1950, the Los Angeles Southern Baptist Association started California Baptist College in El Monte. In fall 1950, the college started its operations with 42 students. 120 students were enrolled during the academic year of 1950-51. After witnessing continuous growth over the next four years, the college moved to better facilities in Riverside.

Currently, the buildings built in Spanish architectural style include campus housing, classrooms, offices, a library, athletic and maintenance facilities spread over the 160-acre campus. Amidst dynamic growth in a Christian environment, CBU continues the tradition of liberal arts education. The university has affiliations with 12 schools and colleges, including the College of Arts and Sciences, Architecture, Visual Arts and Design, Social and Behavioural Sciences, Health Sciences, Gordon and Jill Bourns College of Engineering, College of Nursing, Dr Robert K. Jabs School of Business, Dr Bonnie J.Metcalf School of Education, School of Christian Ministries, Shelby and Ferne Collinsworth School of Music, Dr Paul and Annie Kienel Leadership Institute, and Division of Professional and Online Studies.

California Baptist University offers various academic programs at undergraduate and graduate levels. UG courses include minor and bachelor courses in Accounting, Applied Statistics, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, English, History, Sociology, Mathematics, Philosophy, Nutrition and Food Sciences, and other disciplines. Graduate courses include Applied Mathematics, Architecture, Clinical Psychology, Education, Public Health, and Worship Arts among other disciplines. Besides, the university has a Career Servicing Centre, which prepares students and helps them to recognize and engage in their respective professions with integrity and excellence. The objective is to establish career goals by placing education with various career opportunities that are met through jobs and internships.

The Career Centre helps students develop certain professional skills that are sure to equip them with employment opportunities and help them succeed in the chosen field. Recruiters have recognized CBU students for their exceptional work ethic, character, and ability to apply education in their chosen career field. The on-campus recruiting allows direct meetings and interactions between students and employers on the California Baptist University campus. The Employer-Partner Program at CBU is designed to benefit all organizations and companies so that they can provide distinctive internships and job opportunities to students. The CBU Counselling Centre offers biblical-based, Christian-centred psychologically sounds therapy to the students for mental peace and spiritual senses. The SSP (Sport and Performance Psychology Program) is pre-approved for meeting the educational criteria for CMPC (Certified Mental Performance Consultants) through the Association of Applied Sports Psychology (AASP). On the other hand, CBU’s MSW Program has been granted Candidacy Status and is in the process of accreditation with CSWE or Council on Social Work Education. The university has many notable alumni. The most prominent names among others include television actor Dustin-Leigh Konzelman, activist Fraser Kershaw, American author Rick Warren, American guitarist Drew Shirley, American politician Nathan Fletcher, American MMA artist Matt Brown, and American musician Brent Kutzle.
