Bridgewater State University is a public university in Bridgewater, Massachusetts with campuses in Attleboro, Cape Cod, and New Bedford. It is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)

The University’s six academic colleges offer 36 undergraduate majors and over 60 graduate degree and certificate programs. The Honours Program at Bridgewater State University is a welcoming community of nearly 500 students focused on academic success, personal goals, social justice, service, and leadership. The program associates students to a diverse community of engaged citizen-scholars on campus and to a network of honors students across Massachusetts and the country. Honors can assist students to develop essential skills. These skills include teamwork, oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving, as well as self-motivation and time-management.

Every year, more than 500 students take an interest in paid internships offered by the University as a team with the Bridgewater State University Foundation. With chances to explore careers, gain professional experience, and get ready for graduation, the students upgrade their abilities and capabilities for their future occupations. As they find the work they love, they can procure academic credit and often earn additional income too. The Internship Program Office helps Bridgewater State University students who are anxious to increase practical work experience, develop new skills, network, and apply classroom theory in a professional setting.

Bridgewater State University has a nationally known Undergraduate Research program with huge subsidizing and opportunities for students in any major to find new knowledge and make original contributions to their discipline or community. Undergrad researchers gain highly valued experience and abilities in basic reasoning, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication making them remarkable outstanding candidates for post-graduation competitive opportunities. Students work together intimately with teachers on projects in which they are deeply invested.

At present, the university has about 10,881 students enrolled for distinct programs, out of which 9,463 are undergraduates and 1,418 are graduate students. With an average class size of 22 learners, the student-teacher ratio at the university is 18:1. The University also offers over 1,000 study abroad programs in more than 50 countries. Other than this the university has 11 residence halls and 1 student apartment on campus. Around 41% of full-time undergraduate students live on campus.

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) houses an assortment of services that help the academic development and accomplishment of students. The Learning Assistance Program, offered in the AAC, gives free mentoring in writing, mathematics, communications, English as a second language and a variety of Core Curriculum and beginning level courses. In case a student encounters difficulty in a class or need to develop new strategies, the staff is there to assist them to strengthen the critical thinking skills and build self-confidence for college and beyond.

Bridgewater State University participates in a wide variety of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs. These programs can be assembled into three categories which are Grants/Gift Aid, Work-Study, and Loans. When the FAFSA is processed and BSU awards the financial aid based on the eligibility, the student will receive an award letter.

Notable alumni include Stephen Canessa, (Bachelor’s degree, a former member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Robert Correia, member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, a former Mayor of Fall River, Massachusetts, Jeff Corwin, (B.S. ), actor, conservationist, producer, popular TV host, and Christopher Dijak, professional wrestler currently signed to WWE’s developmental brand NXT.
