- Applicants from institutions outside the U.S. must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association
- A three-year bachelor’s degree in any subject is not considered sufficient for graduate study at Stanford. The two-year master’s degree following the three-year bachelor’s degree from India is required
- Applicants are expected to have completed both Linear Algebra and Differential Calculus of Several Variables, or an equivalent multivariable differential calculus and linear algebra course(s), and Programming Methodology, or an equivalent general programming course, before the beginning of the graduate study
- Additional course work in general programming, statistics, and economics is preferred
- Applicant must hold an engineering degree or a related quantitative degree (major or minor) that includes differential calculus of several variables and linear algebra
