  • Through physics students attempt to understand natural phenomena in the world around them, ranging from the very small atomic nuclei and elementary particles to the very large scale of the universe.
  • Physics is concerned with how fundamental laws influence observed phenomena which might include anything from batting a baseball to rocket dynamics.
  • It includes fundamental theories such as those of dynamics, relativity, electricity, magnetism, thermodynamics, nuclear and elementary particles, and quantum mechanics.
  • In addition to the major, minor, and honors options in physics, joint programs are offered in:
    • applied mathematics/physics (B.Sc. major and honours)
    • biochemistry/physics (B.Sc. honours)
    • chemistry/physics (B.Sc. honours)
    • computer science/physics (B.Sc. major and honours)

Entry Criteria

Class 12th50%
  • Applicants must hold one of the following: 
    • Higher Secondary School Certificate
    • Higher Secondary Certificate
    • Indian School Certificate
    • Intermediate Examination Certificate
    • All India or Delhi Senior School Certificate
    • Pre-University Certificate
  • Subjects required: 
    • English
    • Mathematics
    • Laboratory Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
    • Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language
    • Elective
  • Applicants must get a minimum overall grade of 50% in the required subject areas and this will normally be considered equivalent to no more than two grades less than 50% and a “pass” in all 5 subject areas
ExamsTOEFL: 79
  • A minimum score of 20 in reading and writing, and not less than 17 in listening and speaking.

IELTS: 6.5
  • At least a band 6 in reading and writing

PTE: 58
  • A minimum score of 58 in each of the reading, writing, listening and speaking 

Additional info
  • Applicants should be waived off from ELP if they have successful completion of three years of full-time instruction in an English language secondary institution including the completion of English at the Grade 12 or equivalent level.
