Chemistry is the science of the composition, structure, properties and reactions of matter, especially of atomic and molecular systems.
The synthesis of new drugs, the production of novel materials and the monitoring and improvement of our environment all involve the science of chemistry.
The modern-day subject of chemistry is a dynamically-changing science that is about cutting-edge discoveries and the use of state-of-the-art techniques and technologies that impact almost every aspect of human life and almost every aspect of the development of human society.
In order to declare the chemistry major, students must complete 30 credit hours (10 courses), including the following:
- six credit hours in chemistry
- six credit hours in mathematics
- six credit hours in physics (recommended) or six credit hours in another science other than mathematics
- six credit hours in critical reading and writing (CRW) courses, including at least three credit hours in English

Class 12th	50% Applicants must hold one of the following: Higher Secondary School Certificate Higher Secondary Certificate Indian School Certificate Intermediate Examination Certificate All India or Delhi Senior School Certificate Pre-University Certificate Subjects required: English Mathematics Laboratory Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language Elective Applicants must get a minimum overall grade of 50% in the required subject areas and this will normally be considered equivalent to no more than two grades less than 50% and a “pass” in all 5 subject areas
Exams	TOEFL: 79 A minimum score of 20 in reading and writing, and not less than 17 in listening and speaking. IELTS: 6.5 At least a band 6 in reading and writing PTE: 58 A minimum score of 58 in each of the reading, writing, listening and speaking
Additional info	Applicants should be waived off from ELP if they have successful completion of three years of full-time instruction in an English language secondary institution including the completion of English at the Grade 12 or equivalent level.
