- The curriculum is designed to get students proficient in mechanical engineering science, with a mixture of mostly theoretical and mostly lab-based courses that explore all facets of mechanical engineering applications
- The Mechanical Engineering (ME) undergraduate program at UAB features small class sizes and the opportunity for one-on-one interactions between faculty members and students
- During the senior year, a comprehensive design experience allows students to project, build, and test a mechanical device while learning to work in groups and to overcome “real-life” obstacles (cost overruns, fabrication schedule delays, etc.)
- The Educational Objectives of the Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program are the following:
- Graduates will meet or exceed the expectations of their employers in mechanical engineering or any other career path they choose
- Graduates will pursue continuing education opportunities in their chosen field through a variety of means, such as professional development training and advanced education
- Graduates will pursue leadership positions in their selected profession and/or communities
- Students will study subjects like Computer Methods in Engineering, Engineering Economics, Electrical Systems, Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Graphics, Mechanics of Solids, Mechanics of Solids Laboratory, etc.
