The B.S. in Chemistry prepares students for careers in industry and for graduate or professional schools in chemistry, medicine, dentistry or law
The program includes a solid emphasis on laboratory skills, scientific principles, and mathematics in practical, industrially-oriented areas of chemistry
Students can specialize or explore a particular area of chemistry or prepare for an advanced degree by selecting from a wide range of technical electives
By the end of the course, students should be able to meet the following learning outcomes:
- Perform chemical calculations systematically using dimensional analysis or multiplication by one
- Identify various types of chemical reactions and apply the concept of limiting reagent to calculate the percentage yield of products
- Explain the quantum mechanical basis for the sub-structure of the atom
