Established in 1982, Redeemer University College is a private institution that is associated with organisations like the Christian Higher Education Canada, Universities Canada, the Council for Christian College & Universities, The International Association for the Promotion of Christian Higher Education, and the Association of Reformed Institutions of Higher Education. The institute mainly focuses on liberal arts and science studies. It began with only 160 students. Later on, in 1985, the number of enrolments grew to 250 students. In 1998, the institute started offering undergraduate degree programs. It gained university status in 2000. The library at the university was built in 2005.
The university campus is spread across an area of 90 acres. It comprises three types of accommodation, namely Townhouse, Augustine hall, and Independent apartments. The townhouse is for the first year students, Augustine hall is for the senior year students, and the Independent apartments are for the married postgraduate students. All the residences provide essential facilities required by the students. The students experience a calm learning environment at the campus. The campus is home to three centres, including the Pascal Centre for Advanced Studies in Faith and Science, the Dooyeweerd Centre for Christian Philosophy, and the Centre for Christian Scholarship. Various competitions, events, seminars, fests, and quizzes are conducted by the college. The campus rests in close proximity to many cafes and restaurants. A few medical shops, general stores, and stationery shops are also located close to the campus. Public conveyance is easily available from the campus.
The college offers undergraduate programs. Presently, there are about 700 students at the institute. The academic structure of the college includes three main departments, namely the Department of Science, the Department of Arts, and the Department of Education. It offers courses in a number of subjects like business, accounting, management, media & communication studies, politics, philosophy, theology, psychology, biology, chemistry, health sciences, and environmental studies. The students learn under skilled faculty members.
Many industry professionals visit the college for interactive sessions, guest lectures, and practical workshops. The students get a chance to visit notable organisations, work as interns under professionals, and gain industry exposure. With an extensive range of courses available, the students get the opportunity to get admission to their desired program. The library has a huge collection of journals, books, magazines, and research papers. The students can also access electronic resources available at the library.
A number of alumni have got great placement opportunities through the placement cell at the university. Some have conducted important research whereas some are working with notable companies.
