Life Chiropractic College West, also known as Life West, was established in 1976 by a chiropractor, George E Anderson. It was initially named Pacific States Chiropractic College. It was renamed in 1981 after a merger with Life University. It is accredited by the Council of Chiropractic Education. The private college is located in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. It offers a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Students are trained in 13 different chiropractic techniques.
The professional postgraduate degree has been condensed down from 5 years to three and a half years. 15% of the United States population has consulted a chiropractor. The institute offers specialised scholarships such as International Student Tuition Credit, Married/Sibling Student Tuition Credit Award, Life Chiropractic College West Peru Scholarship and United Kingdom UCA Scholarship. Humanitarian trips such as Service Trip America and Service Trip India are sponsored by the college. The aim of the service trips is to make healthcare available to all and bridge the gap between the poor and the wealthy. Students are eligible to participate if they maintain a GPA of 2.5 and are HIPAA trained. Students who wish to undertake the India Service Trip volunteer for the Sant Nirankari Mission, a spiritual retreat.
