Loma Linda University (LLU) was founded as Loma Linda Sanitarium on 26th August 1905 on the initiative of Ellen G. White, a Seventh-day Adventist pioneer. In December 1905, it accepted the first group of nursing students. The existing Loma Linda University Medical Centre (LLUMC) started operating on 9th July 1967 and the construction of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital was completed in 1993. Currently, LLU consists of eight schools, namely the schools of Behavioral Health, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Allied Health Professions, Public Health, Dentistry, and Religion. Also, it holds the accreditation of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

LLU is located in the Inland Empire, a huge metropolitan area situated near Los Angeles in California. The university shares its campus with six hospitals that provide students with hands-on training and practical knowledge. The campus features exceptional infrastructure and provides numerous amenities to the students. It houses spacious classrooms, a bookstore, well-equipped laboratories, and Del E. Webb Memorial Library. Daniells Residence Complex and Lindsay Hall offer excellent housing facilities to the students. The campus is also home to several cafeterias that provide a hygienic and fulfilling dining experience. Also, many extra-curricular activities are organized to keep students energized and relaxed.

LLU offers over 120 bachelors, masters, certificate, associate and doctoral programs in various fields like medicine, religion, public health, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and behavioral health. It also offers numerous distance education programs. The university houses more than 4,400 students from over 80 countries around the globe. 18 to 22 percent of the student population comprises international students. Besides, it has more than 1,550 distinguished and qualified faculty members. It also offers hosts of career services to the students, including career counseling, networking events, workshops, training programs, and on-campus recruitment.

LLU has produced several distinguished and successful graduates. T.R.M. Howard was a renowned civil rights leader, entrepreneur, surgeon and fraternal organization leader, known for being the founder of the Regional Council of Negro Leadership. Frank Jobe was an orthopedic surgeon who pioneered both major reconstructive shoulder surgery and elbow ligament replacement for baseball players and invented the Tommy John surgery. Cynara Coomer is a Fox News medical contributor and the Director of the Comprehensive Breast Centre in Staten Island University Hospital. Brian Brock is a successful theologian. Several other notable names are linked to the university.
