Salus University

Established in 1919, Salus University is a private institution which was earlier known as Pennsylvania College of Optometry. The university changed its name to the current name in 2008. It is a non-profit charity organization that has been approved by the Department of Education of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The university is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The institution is known to be amongst the oldest universities in North America. Also, it was the first university in the United States to award a doctor of optometry degree.

The main campus of the university covers about 11.5 acres of land. It features great housing facilities for students. The university maintains two sites, including Elkins Park campus and Oak Lane campus. The university helps students in finding rooms at the hostel. The management ensures comfortable living arrangements for students. It provides all the facilities required by students.

Most of the fest, quizzes, competitions, and events organized by the university take place on the campus. The campus has two main buildings with research facilities, clinical laboratories, a library, and a student community center. Overall, the university runs 5 clinical facilities, namely the Eye Institute, Satellite Office, Vision Rehabilitation Centre, Ear Institute, and Speech-language institute. The campuses are located close to some cafes and restaurants. Many chemist shops and convenience stores are nearby the universities. Also, public transport is easily available from the institution.

The university offers postgraduate degree programs. It consists of about 1,200 students. The academic structure of the university features 5 colleges, namely Pennsylvania College of Optometry, College of Education & Rehabilitation, Osborne College of Audiology, College of Health Sciences, and the College of the program in health sciences. The faculty members of the institution are well-experienced and provide students with ample practical knowledge and exposure. Students also get the opportunity to work under professionals. The university is often visited by some industry professionals for guest lectures where students get a chance to learn. The university makes sure that students are getting the required guidance.

The university has a list of some notable alumni that includes Rudy Van Gelder (American recording engineer), Leon Kolankiewicz (Politician), and James Beverly. Every year, the university is visited by some well-known organizations for placements.
