  • The Oxford MSc Financial Economics (MFE) is a full-time nine-month programme that will provide students with outstanding training in the tools of financial economics sought by many financial institutions, companies, and public organisations
  • It is delivered jointly by Saïd Business School and the Department of Economics and combines rigorous academic training with tailored ‘real-world’ applications, designed in consultation with leading financial recruiter
  • Throughout the programme, teaching stresses the links between theories in financial economics and key finance activities. Topics are chosen in the economics courses for their relevance to finance
  • The programme combines:
    • Pre-course training to become familiar with key concepts and techniques
    • Three days of training in ‘financial markets and institutions’ which takes place in a key international financial centre such as Oxford/London, New York, or Hong Kong
    • Four core courses in asset pricing, economics, corporate finance and financial econometrics
    • Five electives from a wide range of modules that develop individual skills and specialisations
    • The opportunity to apply to take part in the Oxford Saïd Finance Lab, a series of practical workshops on financial modelling and real-world case studies

  • Applicants must have a minimum of a 2.1 (3.5 GPA) or its equivalent

GRE: Accepted
  • Applicants are recommend that the quantitative scores are in the 85th percentile, the verbal scores are in the 80th percentile and the analytical writing score is at least 5

GMAT: Accepted

Additional info
  • While it is not mandatory to have any full-time work experience, if applicants have any relevant experience, that will be considered as part of the application 
  • Applicants with a full-time degree-level course of a minimum of nine months, at a recognized institution where teaching and assessment throughout the course is entirely in English and has been completed within 2 years of the start date of the course to which they are applying can be exempted from the English proficiency exam at the discretion of the University
